Former Kameme FM presenter Wambui wa Muturi revealed that being fired in 2013 by Media Max was a blessing in disguise.

During an interview with Kikuyu Diaspora Television (KDtv) hosted by Jeremy Damaris, Wambui narrated the painful experience after leaving Kameme FM having been at the Kijabe street-based station for 6 years.

Wambui was among the 222 employees who were shown the door in 2013. She noted that initially, after receiving a letter from the media house she was elated, thinking it was a promotion only to be met with rude shock.

According to the journalist, 2013 was a tough period not only did she lose her job, but also her father and best friend. She added that the news of her sacking status was captured in the media and the attention was overwhelming.

"During that period, I used to think my phone was broken because I did not receive any calls. Other media houses were listing the top ten journalists fired from Media Max and I was trending on Social media," she said.

In retrospect, Wambui stated that it was not a mistake she was fired from Media Max, it was just a way to get her to where she is currently. She opined that her friends not calling her during the dark times no longer bothered her.

The celebrated journalist is now working at Inooro TV as the host of a health and medical segment dubbed Dagitari - an opportunity she termed as the silver lining after her job loss.

She told Jeremy that in the period before she landed her job at Inooro TV she tried her hand at different jobs unrelated to media. Notably, she worked in the transport industry and the banking industry as a teller.

Her role as the host of the medical TV show, she terms was made possible by her previous experience. Initially, she had auditioned for a gospel program but was moved to the health show.

"I had first auditioned for a gospel show at Inooro TV and everything was set. We had already done the promo video when Kanze Dena asked me to stick around after work," she explained.

Wambui was elated by the news, she went to praise her producer and other officials at the station. However, she was also overwhelmed by the sudden shift in programming.

She emphasized that her prayerful mother played a huge role in her taking up the new opportunity. Conclusively, Wambui said she is looking forward to bigger things.
