Roots Party Presidential contender George Wajackoyah rubbished claims that he was a project of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's Azimio la Umoja alliance.

Speaking during his final campaigns in Nairobi on Saturday, August 6, the leader noted that he was also a contender determined to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He maintained that his name, and that of his running mate Justina Wamae, would be on the ballot during the August 9 General Election.

"Whoever wins in a fair way, we shall support him but the issue of saying 'vote for me and don't vote for Raila,' our system is different. We are all Kenyans... don't fight.

"I did not know that my namesake, and recently I gave him a lot of money and a very expensive watch, was joining the other parties. The real one is here. When I speak something on Raila, the other people claim I am a project and vice versa," he stated.

This comes just days after Wamae accused her boss of going against Roots Party and supporting the former Prime Minister without consulting her.

"It is true Wajackoyah is supporting Azimio but we have not discussed that as a party. If we need to take a stand on who to support, I will support the contrary. We have been branded a project twice but we have not agreed as a party," she stated.

Later, while appearing on KTN News, she maintained was compelled to make that statement to affirm her position in the party and as Wajackoyah's running mate.

She explained that her public statement proved that top principals can differ in ideologies without throwing tantrums at each other.

Wamae, however, ruled out joining either Azimio or Kenya Kwanza, insisting that her candidature together with Wajackoyah will go all the way to the ballot.

On Saturday, Wamae also confirmed that the duo would compete to the end and rallied their supporters to help Roots Party clinch the power.

"We are still committed to legalising and regulation of marijuana's industrial hemp so that we can pay the debt, decrease tax rates and shun donor funding. For us as Roots Party, we are stronger than ever," she explained.
