IN PICTURES: Politicians, Top Govt Officials Cast Their Votes
As Kenyans queued to elect their next leaders, several politicians and government officials were among the early birds to cast their votes.
Among seasoned politicians to cast their ballots early were Deputy President William Ruto and Azimio la Umoja's presidential running mate Martha Karua.
The two cast their votes minutes after 7am, asking Kenyans to join them in executing their civic duties.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his wife Ida Odinga cast their vote minutes past 10 am in Kibra constituency.
On the other hand, President Uhuru Kenyatta in the company of First Lady Margaret Kenyatta cast their vote in Kiambu County a few minutes to 10 am.
Other officials who streamed into various polling stations to cast their vote include Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang'i, in Nyamira county and his Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho who cast his vote in Ndia constituency, Kirinyaga county.
Also, among the first to cast his vote in Nyeri county was Ruto's running mate, Rigathi Gachagua, who was accompanied by his wife Dorcas Rigathi.
Other leaders who were pictured queuing to exercise their democratic rights include President Uhuru Kenyatta's mother- Mama Ngina Kenyatta, Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka and Ford Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula.
