A hospital along Dar es Salaam road in South B, Nairobi has refuted reports claiming that the explosion that rocked the estate emanated from its premises.

Speculations were rife on the safety of patients, doctors and other staff following the Monday night, August 8 incident.

Shortly after, a fire broke out at the scene causing more panic among the city residents

"Confirming an explosion along Dar es Salaam road near the hospital, South B. All is well and no casualties reported from the incident. Police and fire brigade on location," a statement by the hospital read.

A video seen by Kenyans.co.ke captured a building going up in flames.

Multiple reports stated that the huge explosion was loud enough to rattle the glasses and shake surrounding buildings in the area.

The fire was, however, contained by firefighters from Nairobi county before spreading to any of the surrounding areas.

A team from the Kenya Red Cross also responded to emergency calls.

Property worth millions of shillings, nonetheless, was destroyed in the Monday night furnace which was traced to a warehouse storing second-hand automobile spare parts.

The cause of the explosion was, however, undisclosed.

Nairobi county government heightened its emergency response services in the city following an uproar from citizens in July 2022.

This was after a section of the state broadcaster, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), was burnt down despite being nearly 2 kilometres from the emergency service providers.

Governor Anne Kananu attributed the crisis to the delayed release of funds by the National Treasury.
