Whether bearing the scorching sun or embracing the cold weather in different parts of the country, Kenyans turned in large numbers to exercise their democratic right.

The day is always quite long with the exercise time-consuming as millions wait patiently in long queues to vote in the new government.

Nonetheless, a few voters always find a way to create light moments, some that have in the recent past attracted attention across the country. The most recent example is the 2017 General Election where Martin Kamotho also known as Githeri Man was recognised for queuing while eating his lunch packed in a polythene paper.

President Uhuru Kenyatta conferred him a Head of State Commendation (HSC) award, sparking uproar across the country. Equally, on Tuesday, August 9, various acts saw a section of the electorate become instant internet sensations.

In Uasin Gishu county, a man's live interview with Citizen TV's reporter Chemutai Goin has since gone viral after he humbly declined to express his thoughts on the General Election.

"Can you kindly tell us your concerns over the election given that there were requests to postpone the polls over cases of insecurity? As a voter who is already in the queue to cast your vote, what is your opinion?" Goin posed.

"Kulingana na mimi sina maoni. Sina maoni kabisa (I do not have any response worth offering. I really do not have anything to say)," he responded.

His statements saw the journalist and others who were in the queue burst into laughter as Goin moved to pose the same question to another voter.

After the interview, Kenyans shared the video on social media as a majority of online users commended the man for creating a light moment in the tight historic race.

In a separate interview, an 80-year-old woman from West Pokot also went viral after she trolled herself for seemingly being an aged tree in comparison to her age.

This was after the Kiems kit failed to validate her biometrics

"I  have been told to go out and bask in the sun. How does that help me? What if my blood is not enough (to bear the sun)?

"Old age affects all parts of the body. They should just let us be. I am 80 years old and my fingerprints cannot be detected. I cannot believe it. I am just like a tree," she expressed.

Other voters whose photos were shared widely included a man who turned up to queue while wrapped in a towel. Another voter was spotted eating bread at a polling station.

Photos of a husband helping his wife at a polling station was also shared widely on social media platforms.
