Independent party, KANU, Secretary General Nick Salat has lost his bid in the Bomet East parliamentary seat.
Salat, who is Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's closest ally, was floored by United Democratic Alliance's (UDA) Richard Yegon.
According to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) results, Yegon garnered 35,431 votes while Salat got 13,425.
The outspoken Legislator lost with a margin of close to 20,000 votes.
Salat had initially expressed interest in vying for the Bomet Senatorial seat before he shelved his ambition to vie for Bomet East parliamentary seat.
The vocal lawmaker had unsuccessfully contested for the Senate seat in 2013 and 2017 on KANU ticket but lost to Wilfred Lesan and Christopher Langat in the two elections respectively.
During the campaign period, Salat tried to woo the electorates arguing that UDA would not help the residents of Bomet East.
"It is time we wake up and have leaders who can fully pursue our interests nationally," Salat stated.
Salat appealed to the residents to vote for him promising to ensure the constituency benefits from his leadership skills.
The KANU leader and his boss, Gideon Moi, were also supporting the presidential bid of Azimio la Umoja's Raila Odinga.
Before joining Azimio, KANU was part of the defunct One Kenya Alliance (OKA) which was led by Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka.
Salat joins the list of bigwigs who have been floored in this year's elections. The Leader of Majority in the National Assembly, Amos Kimunya, lost his bid to defend the Kipiriri parliamentary seat.
Jubilee Party's Director of Elections, Kanini Kega, also lost his bid to defend the Kieni MP Seat. Jubilee Secretary General, Jeremiah Kioni, also lost the Ndaragwa parliamentary seat to UDA's George Gachagua.
