Former Murang’a senatorial aspirant, Peter Kagwanja, who had earlier sought the Jubilee Party ticket, mocked the party's leaders who lost during the August 9 General Election.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, August 10, Kagwanja, a politcal analyst and a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, noted that he had warned Jubilee Party over United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party onslaught in Mount Kenya region.

He argued that the strategy adopted by the ruling party was not ideal and gave leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto an upper hand.

"I warned the Jubilee honchos about the coming UDA avalanche. They briefed the system that Jubilee was doing well, except me as a problem. Now the chicken have come to roost.

"Hubris comes before a fall. The house of Jubilee is finished!" argued Kagwanja.

This comes after some of the high-ranking Jubilee Party leaders already conceded defeat - most of them hailing from the vote-rich Mount Kenya region.

For instance, Kipipiri Member of Parliament, Amos Kimunya, conceded defeat after losing to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate and former Nyandarua Woman Representative, Wanjiku Muhia.

"The election was historic and will hopefully offer a moment of reflection. We appreciate that life is dynamic, shaped by constantly emerging and often surprising circumstances.

"The people made their decision, which was different from our expectations but in a democracy, the will of the people prevails," Kimunya, who serves as the Leader of Majority in the National Assembly, stated.

Jeremia Kioni, who serves as Jubilee Party Secretary General also conceded defeat in the Ndaragwa parliamentary seat race after losing to his competitor, George Gachagua, of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

"To the people of Ndaragwa, it has been an honor to serve you as your Member of Parliament. I accept the results with honor and contentment. Congratulations Hon George Gachagua on your election," he stated.

Other leaders who have since conceded included Naomi Shaban, who is among the leaders of the ruling party. She served as the Member of Parliament for Taveta constituency for 20 years.

Kagwanja had launched his bid for the Murang'a senatorial seat but the Jubilee ticket was handed to former KEMSA board chairman, Kembi Gitura.

Kagwanja later dropped his bid and launched a campaign to lobby support for Azimio la Umoja leader, Raila Odinga, who is seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
