Samboja served as Taita Taveta Governor for one term having been elected on a Wiper party ticket in 2017, general election.

Mwadime is the former Mwatate Member of Parliament holding the position from 2013 to 2022.

The Taita Taveta Gubernatorial race attracted 13 contestants with the likes of former governor John Mruttu of UDA and former senator Dan Mwazo who finished third and fourth respectively.

Mwadime joins the new Meru Governor–elect Kawira Mwangaza who defeated the incumbent Kiraitu Murungi as an independent candidate.

In a county considered an ODM stronghold, Wiper has taken over after clinching three out of four parliamentary seats.

Bwire Okano and Danson Mwashako of Wiper were declared winners of the Taveta and Wundanyi MP seats.

In Voi constituency Wiper's Hamisi Chome defeated incumbent Jones Mlolwa.

Jubilee Party’s Peter Shake was declared the MP-elect for Mwatate succeeding the outgoing MP Andrew Mwadime who is now the Governor-elect.
