How Police Impersonators Abducted Businessman in Kileleshwa

The family of Businessman Solomon Lenengwesi is distraught following his disappearance after leaving a meeting in Nairobi.

In a press conference held on Wednesday, August  17, his sister Salome Lerosion noted that the businessman's car was stopped by armed individuals who identified themselves as police officers.

At the time, he was heading to Kileleshwa following a meeting in a Nairobi hotel when the four armed individuals accosted him.

She noted that the family believes their kin is being held unlawfully and his abductors are using his phone to communicate with the family.

"That was when my brother tried calling him but he was not responding. He texted him, 'Are you okay?' and Solomon answered that he was alright.

"The message was, however, not structured in the manner that Solomon usually answers," she explained.

She further noted that the family has since filed a missing-person case with the police since July 8 but they have been met with silence.

"We reported at Lang'ata Police Station but we transferred the case to Kilimani Police Station and investigations have been ongoing since," she added.

Solomon's mother, pleaded with the state to release her son noting that his disappearance had caused untold suffering to the family.

"I plead for Government's help. If Solomon is under your custody, please release him to us. We are suffering," she explained.

Statistics by Missing Voices, a group organisations shining a light on extrajudicial killings, 75 People have been killed by the police or disappeared in 2022.

Out of the number, 72 were as a result of police killings (2 were first EDs), and 3 disappeared in police custody.
