Renowned Citizen TV Swahili anchor Swaleh Mdoe has taken his daily Tafakari Ya Babu anecdotes a notch higher by launching his own series on YouTube.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Tuesday, August 23, the anchor stated that the new series will adopt the name Tafakari Ya Babu Swaleh.
Unlike on Citizen TV where he only narrates his anecdote for less than a minute, Mdoe will act and portray the role of a grandfather with the length of each series depending on the script.
Different issues giving a comical relief to the viewers and his supporters will be addressed in the series. The rhetorical questions at the end of every narration will also keep the viewers engaged.
The edu-entertainment show will also feature a group of kids, presumably his grandchildren who listen to his pieces of advice.
According to the veteran anchor, the new show will premiere on his Youtube Channel at the end of August 2022.
According to Julius Muthusi, the series producer, the Tafakari Ya Babu Swaleh on YouTube will be more informative and also allow Mdoe to share details and experiences with different groups of people.
"We are building Babu Swaleh as a separate brand from Swaleh the news Anchor," he stated.
Tafakari Ya Babu, a patented brainchild of Mdoe, started running on TV in 2004 giving comic relief to viewers during his news broadcasts.
Mdoe's career in the media industry spans from 1999 when he worked as a news anchor for NTV until 2001.
He later joined KTN, where he served as the news editor for Swahili bulletins for seven years before he joined Citizen TV.
His successful career has been evident in the numerous awards he has won. In February 2004, he earned the Star of Excellence Award (SOEA), a recognition accolade from Daystar University issued to individuals who excel in leadership and service.
