The Judiciary has closed the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi for 11 days with effect from Friday, August 26.

This was done to pave way for the hearing of 9 presidential election petitions that were filed contesting the outcome of the August 9, presidential poll.

Milimani Law Courts will temporarily host the Supreme Court sittings during the hearing of the nine Presidential petitions challenging William Ruto's win.

In a notice released on Tuesday, the Judiciary stated that during the 11-day period, urgent matters will be handled virtually.

“Take further notice that all fresh pleas and certificates of urgency will be filed and handled at City Court. All matters scheduled for this period will be mentioned virtually for directions by the respective courts during the period," it further read.

Reports have indicated that the proceedings will take place at the Milimani Law Court Ceremonial Hall.
