Just three days after Hellen Wendy's younger brother Enock Nyabuto started a gofundme fundraising page, well-wishers donated at least Ksh6 million to fly her body from Toronto Canada to Kenya.

Enock stated that he started the platform to solicit donations to fly her body to Kisii Kenya after his sister drowned in a swimming pool accident in Canada on Thursday, August 17.

According to Enock, the total cost to fly the deceased’s body is approximately Ksh6 million. The brother alongside Bruce Birundu created the gofundme fundraiser on Sunday, August 21 to raise the funds for the send-off.

On the platform, Enock described Wendy as a person with a warm smile, ,a charming heart and full of life.

"Everyone who met Wendy had their spirits lifted. She was passionate about her work and she touched many hearts," he stated.

Enock concluded by acknowledging the efforts and contributions of well-wishers as the family goes through the tough time of losing the firstborn.

In addition, on Sunday, August 21, Hellen Wendy's father during an interview with Citizen TV, pleaded with well-wishers to help the family to bring the body of his daughter for a befitting burial.

The father of six noted that his daughter went to Canada for higher education after she secured a 10-year study visa and luckily got employment in Collingwood. He added that he had not seen Wendy for about four or five years.

"I was so happy because God had answered my prayer but now she has left us and I do not know who will help me," John sadly stated.

Hellen's father denied claims that his daughter predicted her death while in a foreign country.

The 24-year-old was enjoying a deep dive under the hot sun before she was overpowered by the water and drowned. She was live on Facebook and her video run for about three hours before her body was recovered from the pool.

Notably, gofundme is an international platform that allows individuals, groups, and organizations to start an online fundraiser. The American platform facilitates crowdfunding for events, graduations, illnesses, accidents, etc.

In three easy steps, anyone can open a gofundme platform. You start by adding your name and location, add your story then proceed to share it with friends.

However, the platform charges 2.9 per cent and an additional Ksh36 from each donation.
