White cars account for the biggest share of car sales across the globe according to various reports.

Statistics from Global Automotive show that white cars in the world are the majority- accounting for more than one-third of all the cars in the world. This popularity of white cars is attributable to several factors that increase demand.

Safety

Several studies have shown that white cars are safer as compared to dull colours such as black and grey. According to Market Watch- white cars have a lower probability of crashing  compared to black cars or grey especially where visibility is poor.

Easy to clean

Interestingly, white cars are also easy to clean and maintain. Whilst the imagination is that cleaning white cars could prove to be a nightmare- the fact is that dust spots on white cars are invisible from a distance and would only be spotted in close proximity.

This is as opposed to black cars which conspicuously display spots and dust. Unlike in dark-coloured cars, white surfaces mask dust and maintain a clean appearance for the car.

Scratches on white cars are also invisible from a distance and as such has an appealing outlook.

Higher resale

Further, white cars have a higher resale value as compared to red, yellow or beige colours. The rate of depreciation of white cars is lower hence a guarantee of a high resale value in case the owner decides to sell it.

It is also easy to stylize and customise white as compared to coloured cars. The white background makes it easy for stylising and adding aesthetics to a car as opposed to warm colours.

Heat absorption

In addition, white cars absorb less heat as compared to black cars. This is even more weighty for motorists living in sunny regions such as Sub-Saharan Africa. The white colour reflects light rays and in turn, reduces the temperature inside the car.

White colour surfaces reflect light rays hitting them and thus less light is converted into heat that would result in high temperatures in the car. Only silver-coloured surfaces can match the ability of white surfaces in reflecting light rays.

Appealing to the eye

The colour white is also inoffensive and easy to the eye as opposed to other warm colours. Manufactures are keen on manufacturing cars that are aesthetically appealing as part of their strategies to increase approval ratings. White colour suits most type of vehicles, from SUVs to sedans and hatchbacks.

White paint is also less expensive. White paint is standard in the price making it a cost effective choice for consumers. The cost of acquiring other coloured cars is higher and is treated as an optional cost for the buyer.
