Two gangsters were killed on the spot by a speeding school bus on Thursday, September 1 in Tiwi Sokoni, Kwale County.

As fate would have it, the accident happened while the two were fleeing on a motorbike a few moments after they had just robbed a mobile money shop.

According to Matuga Police chief Hassan Godana, the two died on the spot after crashing into the speeding school bus.

“They got on the motorcycle and sped off when locals started chasing after them. They then rode into the highway without checking whether there was an oncoming vehicle and immediately got hit by the bus,” Godana stated.

According to a report by Nation, the bus in subject belongs to Shimoni Secondary School.

The police report stated that the bus was coming from Msambweni and was headed to Likoni area. No one inside  the bus was injured, the police stated.

“We have no action to take now because the suspects are dead,”Godana added.

The police chief stated that they were yet to establish the identity of the two gangsters whose bodies were moved to Kwale Hospital Mortuary.

However, this is not an isolated robbery case in Kwale County reported in the past one year.

On June 21 last year, officers drawn  from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) gunned down two youth in Ukunda area, Kwale County.

The detectives said the two tried to rob civilians in broad daylight and that they also tried to engage them in a shoot out.

Detectives stated that they were armed with crude weapons including knives, machetes and an imitation of a firearm.

"Also recovered were assorted cell phone handsets, believed to have been stolen from victims of crime," DCI stated in a statement.
