Update Issued on IG Mutyambai's Health Status

An update was issued on the health status of the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai.

Doctors attending IG Mutyambai were said to be pleased with his progress since admission on Thursday, August 25. 

Mutyambai responded well to treatment and was even discharged from the hospital.

The Standard also stated that the Inspector General of Police will now be monitored from his home as he recuperates.

Mutyambai was admitted to hospital after he suffered from an undisclosed illness.

Multiple reports indicated that he was admitted to the High Dependence Unit (HDU) and later transferred to the general ward after he stabilised.

In a statement on Friday, August 26, Mutyambai announced he was taking a break from the office to attend to his health.

The IG of Police, however, did not reveal what was ailing him but assured the nation that he was advised to immediately proceed to a hospital for analysis and further advice. 

Deputy Inspector General of Polic Noor Gabow took charge of operations at the National Police Station (NPS). 

"This is to inform the general public that I will be away from the office attending to a medical checkup effective today - August 26, 2022.

"In my absence, Mr Noor Gabow, the Deputy Inspector General - Administration Police Service, will act as the Inspector General of the National Police Service until my return," the statement signed by Mutyambai read.
