President Uhuru Kenyatta visited Azimio La Umoja flagbearer, Raila Odinga, at his Karen home on Tuesday night, September 8,  three days after the Supreme Court upheld President-elect, William Ruto's victory.

Sources who were present at the meeting told Kenyans.co.ke that the two leaders deliberated over the outcome of the election and the dismissal of their presidential petition by the Supreme Court.

Uhuru who was accompanied by his eldest son, Jomo Kenyatta, was spotted in a lively mood while posing for photos with his handshake partner.

"I am not at liberty to divulge more but I can confirm that the meeting happened at Raila's home," the source who spoke on condition of anonymity told Kenyans.co.ke

Notable figures who were present at the meeting include Azimio La Umoja campaign's spokesperson, Makau Mutua, and Siaya Governor James Orengo.

Orengo was Raila's lead counsel at the Supreme Court petition that was nullified after seven judges led by Chief Justice Martha Koome ruled in the favour of Ruto and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

In attendance at the meeting at Raila's home was scholar and columnist Okech Kendo, Raila's wife Mama Ida Odinga and daughter Winnie Odinga.

The visit comes amid planned series of meeting between the two leaders and Azimio La Umoja elected members.

Uhuru is expected to discuss the way forward after Azimio lost to Ruto's Kenya Kwanza. In his state of the nation address, on Monday, September 5, the head of state pledged to ensure a smooth transition of power, but declined to congratulate Ruto

“I want to wish well all who have won as they guide our country into the future. I thank you all for the opportunity to serve. All the necessary orders to facilitate this process have already been issued,” Uhuru stated.

He encouraged Kenyans to respect the institutions while also asking the public to continually put them under scrutiny as a civic duty required of every Kenyan.
