Preparations are in top gear at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of president-elect William Ruto on Tuesday, September 13.
Images and clips seen by Kenyans.co.ke reveal that the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), members of the transition committee and the police have set up camp at the stadium in preparation of Ruto's inauguration.
The Military
With the Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi in the transition committee, officers from the Kenya Air Force, Army, and Navy have begun rehearsals at the stadium.
The military conducted a mock exercise of how Kibochi will accompany President Uhuru Kenyatta to the podium to hand over the sword of honour to his successor.
From marching parades, to testing the audio-visual system and assessing the security of the facility, disciplined forces are keen to ensure that the process goes on flawlessly.
Insiders reveal that KDF will also showcase some of the artillery in its possession. The flags of the three separate wings will also be hoisted during the ceremony.
The Transition Committee - UDA Representatives
On September 5, the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua approved Ruto's nominations to the transition committee including Uasin Gishu Woman Rep. Gladys Shollei, UDA Secretary-General Veronica Maina and outgoing National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi who are co-opted members.
Shollei, Maina and Muturi have made multiple visits to the stadium to ensure that the preparations are going on as planned. Other Kenya Kwanza elected leaders such as Oscar Sudi have also made their way to the stadium.
The Uasin Gishu county MP confirmed that 45 heads of government have confirmed that they would attend the swearing in ceremony.
A podium has been set up for the president and his deputy to take up two oaths - one to defend the constitution and one to perform their duties to their country. The schedule and sitting arrangements is also being finalised.
The National Police Service
The National Police Service (NPS) has also beefed up security at the stadium by deploying officers including those from the General Service Unit (GSU).
Officers have been delegated with duties and received consistent briefs on the function.
