New System for Booking Suswa Leisure Train Unveiled

The Kenya Railways Corporation - KRC has unveiled a new booking system for passengers using the Suswa Leisure Train using the Nairobi Terminus to Suswa route.

Passengers using the route can now use an easy faster method by dialing a USSD code *639# or visiting the website meticktes (dot) krc (dot) co (dot) ke.

These two methods include a few easy steps to get your journey kickstarted.

Booking Through the USSD

Using your phone, dial *639# to begin your booking process. You will be prompted to choose a Train Type. 

There are four options: 

1. Inter-county 8:00 AM

2. Nairobi-Msa Express

3. Mombasa-Nrb Express

4. Suswa train

In the popup tab, you are also provided with a helpline contact number in case you experience a challenge: 0709388888.

Proceed to select option 4 and you will be directed to a new tab. Indicate the place you are departing from, the starting point of your journey.

You can choose the Nairobi terminus, Ongata Rongai, Ngong, Maai Mahiu, or Suswa.

After you have selected the starting point, you will be directed to choose the departure time.

If a train is available when you want to travel, you conclude by booking the train.

Booking Through the Website

After visiting the website, you will spot 4 tabs at the top of the website.

From left Train Type, From, To, and Departure Date. On the far right, there is a button "Book a Train", you press it after completing the booking process.

You use the Train Type tab to choose either the inter-county, Suswa train, or Express train.

Proceed to indicate your departure point and your destination and conclude by selecting the date of departure.

If a train is available, proceed to book the train.

While the corporation unveiled the new system, it urged the public to help in curbing the vandalism of railway property and the sale of rail metals by reporting cases of vandalism.

"Kenya Railways wishes to notify members of the public that the Corporation has not sanctioned the sale of scrap metal on any of its properties or premises," read the statement in parts.
