Citizen TV's Editorial Director Linus Kaikai has asked President-elect William Ruto to swiftly implement his agenda and fulfill campaign pledges after the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, September 13.

Through the Thursday night, News Gang show, Kaikai reached out to Ruto and advised him to prioritise the high cost of living in the country.

While lauding the country's democracy, Kaikai urged Ruto to execute his mandate in a way that would unite the land divided by the August 9 Presidential Election

"Considering the general circumstances of our nation, the new administration will have no time for a honeymoon or even the usual Kenyan thing of so-called homecoming parties. With the cost of living visiting untold suffering upon countless Kenyan households, the new government must hit the road running," Linus stated.

"We have reason to celebrate the maturity of our democracy and reason to believe we once again set a good example worthy of emulation," he added while referring to Kenyans' reactions to the Supreme Court ruling.

Political editor, Francis Gachuri, echoed Kaikai's sentiments stating that voters have high expectations of Ruto's government.

"The new government will be tested from the first day for promises ranging from growing the economy, creating opportunities for the unemployed, especially the youth, improving health services, reducing the cost of living, rule of law and constitutionalism, respect for institutions, among other promises," Gachuri remarked.

While reaching out to Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga supporters, business editor, Yvonne Okwara, urged the country to rally behind the new administration and hold it accountable.

"The election is decisively over and a new government will shortly be installed. Mature democracies are not just about elections but also the life after which began with the inauguration of Parliament. A new president will be inaugurated when William Samoei Ruto takes the oath of office.

"Now, here is the aggregate of the events of the last few weeks and indeed, democratic maturity; whichever way you voted on August 9, a democracy can only have one president and one government at a time," Okwara stated.

Their sentiments come just days after Ruto assured the media that his administration would not crack down on any station he accused of bias in coverage.

The President-elect maintained that his administration would treat all media houses equally.

"I want to promise you that you will be treated equally as other Kenyas. I know sometimes people think that people who fought against us will have a problem as we harbour grudges, but we don't. We shall work together," he stated.
