The Public Service Commission (PSC) has flagged a viral advert announcing over 3,000 job vacancies in the Ministry of Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development as fake.
Through a statement issued on Monday, September 12, PSC clarified that the job opportunities declared in the publication were non-existent.
The notice making rounds online is purported to have been issued by the Commission's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Secretary Simon Rotich.
"This is to notify the general public that the below advert circulating on social media is fake," PSC reiterated.
Among the jobs openings announced include 125 vacancies for lecturers who will work at the Kenya Industrial Training Institute (KITI), 115 trade development officers, industrial development officers category I (115) and II (136).
The scammers further called for applications for 264 social workers, 183 drivers, 171 accountants, 115 category III Instructors and 161HIV testing services (HTS) providers.
In addition, the publication alleged that PSC was also looking for 144 P1 Teachers, 144 Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) Teachers, 115 cooks and 12 electricians.
Other openings include 133 nurses, 117 Human Resource Managers, 214 mobilizers, 123 counselors, 117 supply chain managers , 179 cleaners, 139 office assistants and 123 public health officers.
All of the jobs in the advert that has since been established as fake are permanent and pensionable.
Among the requirements was that interested applicants were to submit included copies of personal identification document and academic certificates.
The public has been warned against falling hook, line and sinker to such scams by con artists. The Commission noted that it not only exposes them to financial loss but also data related crimes.
PSC asked Kenyans to look out for job adverts on its official website and on the local daily publications .
