Praying Family

The First Lady has accredited prayers to be the driving point for President Ruto's ambition to the house on the Hill.

While she was the Second lady, Mama Rachel Ruto always prayed for the nation especially during natural calamities and disasters.

After the Supreme Court upheld President Ruto’s win as the fifth President, Rachel came out to thank God for her husband's success.

Following his inauguration, Mr Ruto became the first evangelical Christian president to occupy State House.

Ruto, a staunch Christian believer has never shied away from practicing his faith, and acknowledging that his rise to the top has been the work of God.

"Before the nation and the world today, I stand with great humility and profound joy, as a living testimony, that with faith in God, willingness to work hard and commitment to a vision, dreams can become reality in the fullness of time," said the President in his inaugural speech.

The President is also well known for quoting the Holy scriptures and had a chapel at the Deputy Presidents' official residence where he prayed with his family, friends and allies.

After the Supreme Court upheld his win, Ruto revealed that Mama Rachel usually holds his hands and says a prayer before he leaves the house every day.

He stated that it was her prayers and other Kenyans that made him win the August 9 polls.

"I want to thank my wife Rachel who prays for me every day. Before I leave the door of the house behind me (pointing at the Karen residence) she prays for me.

"I also thank my children for believing in me and always supporting me," he stated.

In August, Mama Rachel also met with the fathers and key leaders with influence during the opening ceremony of their alter in Karen.

“Today, my husband and the Deputy President and I were blessed to have been joined by Fathers of Faith and Key leaders in various mountains of influence during the opening ceremony of our National Prayer Alter,” Rachel tweeted.

Apart from the First Family, the Second Family is also a powerhouse, anchored on a strong Christian foundation.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's wife, Dorcas is a pastor, who has played a key role in the political journey of the DP.
