Before venturing into politics the Defence Cabinet Secretary nominee, Aden Duale, tried his hand at several careers.
Born in 1969 in Balambala Garissa county, Duale went to Garissa Boys Primary School in 1981 before he proceeded to Garissa High School in 1985 then Moi Forces Academy in 1987.
He also founded and coordinated the Livestock Traders & Marketing Society of Kenya in 1997.
In 1999, the legislator was a member of the Board of Directors at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC). A position he held up to 2003.
Notably, the roles of the Board of Directors are outlined by the KBC Act that incorporated the state broadcaster in 1989.
As a board member, the outgoing Garissa Township Mp was tasked with directing the managing director to establish divisions for the corporation.
In the organizational structure at KBC, the board of directors guides and receives reports from the managing directors and other departments.
Directives trickle down to all dockets and the managing director ought to ensure the standards laid out are upheld.
Duale also issued directions on the general standards of taste, impartiality, and accuracy for the contents of the corporation including advertisements and all other programs.
Duale holds a Bachelor of Education from Moi University, awarded after his graduation in 1992. It was in the same year that he was employed as a teacher at Sankur Secondary School in Garissa County.
In 2011, he graduated with a Master in Business Administration from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
