Ruto Appoints David Ndii, Nanok to State House Roles

Renowned economist David Ndii has been appointed as the Chairperson of the President's Council of Economic Advisors. 

The announcement was made by the outgoing Head of Public Service, Joseph Kinyua, on Friday, October 14. 

"It is notified that His Excellency William Ruto has, on October 14, made various appointments to the senior ranks of the Executive Office of the President," Kinyua stated in a statement sent to media houses.

Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Felix Koskei will replace Kinyua as Head of Public Service and also act as Chief of Staff. 

He will be assisted by former Turkana governor, Josphat Nanok who was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff.

Former Treasury Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge was appointed as the senior advisor and head of physical affairs and budget policy while Augustine Cheruyoit was appointed to head the economic transformation secretariat. 

Dr Nancy Laibuni will serve as a member of the president’s Council of Economic Advisors, according to the list shared by Kinyua. 

Also featured on the list is former Kajiado South MP Katoo Ole Metito, who was appointed as State House Comptroller.

Other notable appointments made include Mohammed Hassan who was appointed as a member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors and David Mugonyi who was appointed as the Head of the Presidential Communication Service. 

Former Citizen TV news anchor Hussein Mohammed was also appointed as the State House spokesperson.

According to an executive order signed by President William Ruto on Friday, David Ndii's docket as the Chairperson of the President's Council of Economic Advisors will be under the Office of the President. 

Koskei's, the new Chief of Staff and his deputy Nanok will also serve at State House under the Office of the President. 

Notably, David Ndii was actively involved in the campaigns of the Kenya Kwanza Coalition which propelled President Ruto to power. He was part of the think tank behind the strategies and economic model that President Ruto rode on during the August election.  The economist has a rich profile as an economist.
