The National Police Service (NPS) impounded a matatu whose driver was captured on camera threatening another road user with a panga.

Police Spokesperson Bruno Shioso confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that the 14-seater matatu was impounded at Kiamaiko on Monday. October 17.

The vehicle was taken to Kasarani Police Station.

The whereabouts of the driver is, however, unknown after he went into hiding soon after the incident occurred on Sunday, October 16.

The 17-second clip showed the driver, donning a white turban, approach another motorist in personal car with the machete which he banged on the car's bonnet.

The difference between the two ensued after the matatu, which had been overtaking on the wrong side of the road, demanded the driver of the personal to grant it the right of pass.

When he refused, the driver then alighted, drew a machete and charged at the personal car.

It is still not clear if anyone was injured from the incident.

This came just days after the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) arrested a driver and a tout filmed dangerously hanging on a speeding matatu's door.

The driver of the matatu was slapped with Ksh100,000 cash bail or Ksh200,000 bond while the tout paid Ksh30,000.

Additionally, drivers were warned against disobeying traffic rules and PSV guidelines.

Among the charges they faced were dangerous and reckless behaviour while driving, and failing to wear the specific uniform while on duty. Touts are expected to wear a maroon uniform while the drivers ought to be in a blue one.
