Winnie Odinga has watered down claims that she had been nominated by the Orange Democratic Movement - ODM, to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

Speaking on Wednesday, October 19, Winnie, daughter of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, clarified that she had not declared any interest in sitting in the regional parliament let alone hold any public office.

She added that she had not been in communication with the orange party to lobby for the said position.

"I have not applied for EALA nor has any official communication come from the party," the daughter of the Azimio coalition party divulged.

Her statement was backed by ODM's Communication Director Philip Etale who, while speaking to Kenyans.co.keconfirmed that the party has not conducted any businesses with regards to the house.

"As far as I am concerned, nominations to EALA have not been done. Thanks," Etale stated.

Winnie claimed that the misinformation was the work of a Cabinet Secretary nominee whom she alleged felt intimidated by her. She questioned why society was bothered by influential women.

"You can have ambition, but not too much. You should aim to be successful but not too successful, otherwise, you will threaten the man.

"And then we do a much greater disservice to girls because we raise them to cater to the fragile egos of males. We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller," she stated.

Winne who was in charge of Communications and Operations during Odinga's campaign, shared with the public what she has been up to after the August elections.

Amid a blame game over being the reason for her father's loss to President William Ruto, she also posted a list of the team behind the Azimio coalition party leader's campaigns.

Earlier, Raila Odinga Campaign Secretariat Spokesperson Makau Mutua warned individuals attacking Winnie to desist from the finger-pointing, stating that she was just young in the murky world of politics.
