Citizen TV sports enthusiast and news anchor, Mukami Wambora left the station five years after landing the enviable position.

Insiders privy to the matter who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke, affirmed that she tacitly left the station, during the same period as her former colleague, Bernard Ndong's exit, who is now at NTV.

The bubbly news anchor quietly exited the giant broadcaster without any fanfare- as a tradition at the Maalim Juma Road-based media house.

Wambora had not been on air for weeks as she anchored Sports news on prime time while also featured as an analyst and sometimes as host on Sporty Monday.

In addition, Wambora kept mum on her exit, with details about her next move remaining scanty. However, a tweet she posted on Saturday, October 22, at Capital FM Studios on the Saturday Music and Sports show segment was enough hint of her possible new home.

"Tune in to Capital FM Kenya for Saturday Music and Sports with me dj uv live and the sports moran. We are discussing all the latest in Sports including the #TexasGP this weekend and Benzema‘s Ballon D’or. Did he deserve it? Oh and Liverpool is losing," she tweeted.

Nonetheless, sources at Lonhro House intimated to Kenyans.co.ke that details regarding the deal were yet to be finalised.

According to her LinkedIn Profile, she graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Degree in Law. She pursued her Post Graduate Diploma at the Kenya School of Law from 2012 to 2013.

Her career in media was launched in September 2011 when she became a radio presenter at Capital FM, where she presented weekly football radio shows and also managed their social media accounts.

After amassing four years, she joined Radio Africa Group for a one-year period in May 2016. In September 2017, Wambora joined Royal Media Services as a sports journalist.

Among the events she covered included the 2021 African Cup of Nations (Cameroon), 2021 CAF Women’s Champions League (Egypt), 2019 INEOS 1:59 Kipchoge Challenge (Austria), 2018 World Cup in Russia, 2018 Berlin Marathon and 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Her exit however leaves Citizen TV's sports desk badly exposed. Currently, veteran journalist Mike Okinyi is running the show, after the departure of Ndong'. The TV station is said to be scouting for talent, with reliable sources stating that some of the sports personalities on Radio Citizen could join Okinyi. It's a crucial moment, with FIFA World Cup around the corner.
