The mid-morning incident attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans, with some cautioning locals against vandalising the truck.

Lucy Lutere commenting on Facebook said, "This is not a place for residents to rush to, people should move from the scene as fast as possible."

Sammy Kanyi echoing Lucy's statements stated, "Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) is very highly explosive and people should avoid the scene.'

Police have on several occasions cautioned the public against rushing to a scene of accident especially when it involves a vehicle ferrying flammable fuel products.

LPG gas is highly flammable and is usually used as cooking fuel and for industrial purposes.

Kenya has witnessed tragic accidents involving fuel tankers especially, especially along major highways in the country.

On 12 July, 2021 thirteen people died when a truck ferrying petrol burst into flames on the Kisumu-Busia highway.

A similar incident happened on March, 12 2022 when a tanker burst into flames in Mukhonje market along the Kipkaren-Webuye road, Kakamega.

You are advised to alert the police should you witness such an accident and stay away from the scene for your safety.
