Thieves in Chuka town, Tharaka Nithi County got confused after they broke into Mutube Baptist Church and stole valuables, before dumping the loot around a nearby pub.
In a bizarre incident that shocked Chuka residents, the Praise and Worship equipment were abandoned just a few metres from where they were stolen.
"The thieves broke into the church store amid heavy rainfall and made away with three loudspeakers, a guitar, mixer and microphones among other items worth at least Sh400,000,” said Mr Mutwiri, a Church Pastor.
In what can only be described divine intervention, the thieves who operated under the cover of darkness and heavy rains were also caught just around the same bar.
Pastor Franklin Mutwiri of Mutube Baptist Church told Journalists that he got wind of the information at around 2am, minutes after the thieves had left the Church compound.
A member of his Church who had gone to the church to pray at the time discovered that Praise and Worship instruments had vanished in the thick of a heavy pounding rain.
Franklin then went into his prayers to ask God for a spiritual intervention, and indeed his prayers were immediately answered.
Hours later, Pastor Franklin gathered a few members of his Church to conduct a search operation at nearby rental houses.
When the search team peeped into one of the houses, he said, they only saw a mattress on the floor.
On inquiring the whereabouts of the occupants, a neighbour told them of suspicious movements and low-tone talk under heavy rain just around 2am.
The Church members then continued with search operation,and found the instruments dumped at a popular joint in town, just a few metres from the Church.
Pastor Franklin and the Mutube Baptist Church community thanked the community that tirelessly worked to ensure that the instruments were recovered.
