Uduak Amimo to Moderate Session With Bill Gates at COP27

Uduak Amimo is set to moderate a hybrid event with Bill Gates in Nairobi on the final day of the United Nations conference on climate change (COP27).

The celebrated former Citizen TV journalist will host the philanthropist on Thursday, November 17, on a virtual platform in partnership with the University of Nairobi. 

The hybrid event will include a live audience of 500 students from universities in Nairobi and a virtual audience of students from universities across the continent, as well as anyone interested in attending online.

Uduak Amimo has had a stellar career as a journalist and broadcaster spanning over 20 years having started out as an assistant producer at Reuters Television in 1997.

The Pan-African and international journalist has interviewed many African leaders and luminaries throughout her career amassing a wealth of experience in her field of work.

Among internationally acclaimed media houses that Amimo has worked for include the BBC World Service, Voice of America and Reuters.

Amimo is also a former host of the current affairs show Cheche that to aired on Citizen TV in the run up to the 2017 election.

The the Wednesday weekly show featured David Makali and Mutegi Njau who are also veteran journalists in Kenyan newsrooms.

She took a break from from Cheche in February 2018 to focus on a mentorship program for media hopefuls through her Uduak Amimo Coaching & Consulting, a company she founded in 2011.

Apart from her work with international media companies, Amimo has also worked as the Acting Executive Director of Uraia Trust and as a Press Officer at UNICEF.

The event Amimo will be hosting is themed "Innovating for Food Security and Climate Change in Africa."

According to organizers, the event will seek to promote conversations about innovating for food security and climate adaptation in Africa.

Virtual audience attendees will be invited to submit questions to Bill Gates and participate in real-time polls to gauge interests and opinions throughout the event on Thursday 17 November from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM EAT (Nairobi).
