Chief Twit, Elon Musk, put the Twitter verification launch on hold as the tech giants seek to curb impersonation and identity theft.

Musk, on Tuesday, November 22, stated that the launch earlier scheduled for November 29, was postponed to a later date.

“Holding off relaunch of Blue Verified until there is high confidence of stopping impersonation,” he stated.

He also suggested coming up with a new strategy to differentiate between official organisations' and individuals' Twitter handles.

“Will probably use different color checks for organizations and individuals,” he added.

Amidst the verification delay, the Twitter boss also made it known that despite critics, Twitter's new users increased.

“Twitter added 1.6 million daily active users this past week, another all-time high,” he noted.

In a move to beat other social media giants, Musk stated that he was working on making it possible for Twitter to offer good videos with higher compensation for creators.

Not only will video creators be able to monetize their content, but text creatives will also enjoy the offer.

Musk’s announcement came after Twitter’s charity partner Anti-Defamation League (ADL), announced that it would end their relationship following his recent policy changes.

On November 11, Musk suspended the blue verification subscription after users abused the policy and attained blue ticks with fake accounts

Twitter experienced a hike in pseudo-verified accounts, prompting the social media site to reconsider its choice.
