Suspect Escapes After Cops Rescue Thieves From Mob

Police officers in Manyatta Metameta, Kisumu County rescued two people suspected of theft from an angry mob on Wednesday, November 30.

According to the police, the gang of three met their proverbial 40 days when residents violently descended on them but a third suspect managed to swiftly escape.

The irate mob that was baying for their blood prepared a fire to burn the deviants believed to have orchestrated a series of house break-ins in the area.

Luckily for the suspected thugs, police arrived just in time to rescue them from the mob who had decided to take the matters into their own hands and end the cause of their troubles.

Members of the public acted on the miscreants based on information that led them to their nest where they managed to land on some of their missing possessions.

"An assortment of household goods and electronics including 84 mobile phones, 4 iPads, a DSTV decoder, 1 KPLC meter, 3 gas cylinders, 2 TV sets, a woofer, and a laptop were among some of the items that were recovered." Police detailed.

Police stated that after securing the suspects from the grasp of the public they rushed the two injured suspects to the hospital for treatment since they had sustained serious burns following the altercation.

Officers have launched a serious hunt for the third suspect, who is on the residents' radar and risks suffering a more serious fate than his counterparts if not apprehended in time.

The police urged members of the public to avoid taking the law into their hands, and instead present arrested suspects to the police for further action.

The police have been on high alert across the country following the government directive to fight crime in the country.

Mob justice is however highly discouraged in the country following the risk of lynching innocent persons. 

Members of the public are encouraged to follow the law and leave the courts to decide if a suspect is guilty and what punishment befits the crime committed.
