7 Luxurious Cars Used By Kenyan Dignitaries on Jamhuri Day [PHOTOS]

Senior government and state officials arrived in style for the 59th Jamhuri Day celebrations held at Nyayo Stadium on Monday, December 12.

Honouring the invitation by President William Ruto, a number of state officials arrived in luxurious vehicles - a symbol of the power of the offices they hold.

Kenyans.co.ke sampled some of the vehicles in which the leaders arrived at the stadium and came up with the following list:

Sakaja.

Governor Johnson Sakaja - Lexus LX570

Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja was among the first to arrive at the stadium since he was the host county chief. He arrived in his acclaimed 2017 Lexus LX 570.

Sakaja's moving luxury is estimated at Ksh25 million. He first unveiled the vehicle when he received his certificate after emerging the winner in the Nairobi Gubernatorial election.

A pinnacle of on and off-road luxury, the sports utility vehicle has an eight-cylinder engine (V8) that can generate 362 horsepower. It takes 7.7 seconds to reach 100 kilometres per hour and has a top speed of 210 kph. 

Kibochi

CDF Kibochi - 2003 Mercedes Benz S300

The Chief of Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi arrived in a green 2003 Merceded Benz S300, with a customised number plate - CDF 1.

Pulling over at the VIP section, the green car had a military flag mounted atop the bonnet, where the vehicle's emblem is usually placed.

The German machine is powered by a 4.3-litre engine with five-speed transmission. So powerful it is for a vehicle of its calibre, generating 275 horsepower and 295 newton-metres of torque.

Owing to depreciation, Kibvochi's ride world cost about Ksh1.2 million today.

Wetangula

Speaker Moses Wetangula - 2014 Merc S300 - Black 

Speaker Moses Wetangula arrived in a sleek black 2015 Mercedes Benz S300. Just like Kibochi, he has a custom-made plate Speaker of the National Assembly (SNA 1).

A part of the luxurious S-Class line, the S300 would cost Ksh14.3 million including taxes.

The vehicle has a four-litre engine with a displacement of 3,000 ccs. When cruising, passengers enjoy special features including heated seats, soundproof windows, and electrically adjustable leather seats among others.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi alighted from a brand new 2014 Toyota Prado TX.

Perceived as a luxury car model, the black beast will cost between Ksh7 to Ksh15 million depending on the mileage. The vehicle has an all-powerful V6 engine with a displacement of 4,000 CC.

Transmission is five-speed for both manual and automatic vehicles. It has an all-round vehicle that does well on and off road hence the preference by most political leaders.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua - 2017 Mercedes S300

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua arrived in a convoy of five vehicles including a five-superbike escort accorded to VVIP.

The convoy included his Mercedes Benz S350, long chassis and four other vehicles from the manufacturer's E-series. Together, the entourage has a market value of between Ksh35- 40 million.

Each of the superbikes costs Ksh1 million. The riders are charged with handling the two-wheeled monsters whose engine displacement of 900cc is six times that of an average bodaboda.

In addition, each bike can produce up to 83.5 newton-metres of torque per 7,000 revolutions per minute (rpm) and 65.8 kW / 8,250 rpm. 

Patrick Njoroge and Deputy CJ Philomena Mwilu - Mercedes E350

The governor of the Central Bank of Kenya Patrick Njoroge and Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu both arrived in a Mercedes Benz E350.

Njoroge's grey car had a customised registration plate number, CBK 1. while Mwilu's had a GK plate. The price market value of the cars ranges between Ksh3 to 8 million.

The vehicles have a 3-litre turbocharged engine with the ability to generate 253 horsepower. 

Inside the cabin is an aura of luxury with enough legroom, a panoramic sunroof, leather heatable and adjustable seats and a powerful infotainment system.
