Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta was often seen in public doing what may not be expected from the Head of State.
His spontaneity and openness earned him the nickname 'Jayden'. A name he did not publicly disown.
The former Head of State was famous for the African shirts that set him apart from other leaders at various state functions.
His photos and videos were cleverly used by Kenyans as memes that often went viral. Even after his two-term as president ended, some of Uhuru's memorable moments live rent-free in Kenyans' minds.
Saying I love you in public
Uhuru in July 2022, showed Kenyans his soft side after he said "I love you too" to a woman who interrupted his speech in Nakuru County.
She was impressed by Uhuru's well-structured speech on his legacy as president and she shouted, "Uhuru, we love you."
Caught off guard by the sentiments, Uhuru burst into laughter before replying, "I love you too".
Before proceeding with his speech, the former president appreciated the young lady for her genuine admiration and recognising his administration's accomplishments.
Behind the Wheel
The former Head of State was fond of driving himself around, breaking security protocols. However, seeing him behind the wheel elated many Kenyans.
In May 2022, Uhuru made an impromptu visit to Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Museum Air Show while driving the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
Uhuru nd Ahmed greeted the kids at the show before proceeding to their seats.
In March 2022, in his Ksh15 million Mercedes G Wagon, Uhuru drove himself to the Kenyatta market where he addressed an excited crowd.
Even after leaving office, Uhuru seemed to enjoy driving himself from time to time. In October 2022, he was recorded driving a pickup before interacting with bikers along the road.
"How are you? You travel all around Kenya with your bike?" Uhuru questioned, adding," I hope you are having a good time."
Donning a one-of-kind Ksh 37M watch
In March 2022, Uhuru was the topic of discussion after he wore an expensive watch during the Magical Kenya Open tournament.
Besides the price, the watch is one of only 100 that exist in the world. He is known as a watch collector with a collection amounting to millions.
Unfiltered laughter
While at the Lang'ata barracks in April where he watched senior army officers race, Uhuru was seen uncontrollably laughing.
At one point, he was seen wiping tears from his eyes as he enjoyed the energetic race.
Uhuru withheld his laughter and amazement at the national event.
