KTN News' continuity editor John Mwaura has left Standard Group and is set to join NTV.

Mwaura will bolster the editorial team at the Kimathi Street-based station in the coming days where he will serve as an editor.

Kenyans.co.ke has established that Mwaura, who was a dependable talent at KTN News, will work closely with Ben Kitili who joined NTV in mid-2022.

Mwaura was appointed as continuity editor at KTN News in September 2021 after a short stint at TV47.

At TV47, where he served for slightly over one year, Mwaura, described by many as 'a man of the people' in the newsroom, was the station's editorial director.

Notably, Mwaura joined KTN News in early 2017 as a news editor, after he was plucked from Ebru TV, when Joe Ageyo, now NMG's Editorial Director, was KTN's Managing Editor.

At the Twin Towers, the soft spoken journalist will link up with a number of his former colleagues, poached by NTV in the past one year.

Apart from Ageyo and Kitili, Mwaura will work with Duncan Khaemba, Lofty Matambo, Nicholas Wambua, Fridah Mwaka, Janet Chapia, Ibrahim Karanja and Brian Obuya.

His addition to NTV follows a recent reorganization that saw top journalist let-go, as the giant media house seeks to trim its payroll.

The changes claimed the careers of among others, veteran scribe Mutuma Mathiu, news anchor Mark Masai and investigative journalist Dennis Okari.

NMG's layoffs were partly occasioned by the changing media landscape brought about by the emergence of digital journalism and the looming recession.

Standard Group, which has become NMG's poaching ground, is one of the media giants in the country that took the hit, with a looming mass firing.
