The National Police Service (NPS) flagged a notice circulating online calling Kenyans for recruitment to the service.

In a statement dated Tuesday, December 20, NPS cautioned Kenyans to be alert over thousands of scammers seeking to con them

"Please be informed that the said advert is fake, and the National Police Service has not called for any applications whatsoever," NPS warned.

It added that citizens will be informed of any recruitment exercise into the Service through an advertisement in print media in the usual manner.

Furthermore, NPS cautioned fraudsters preying on unsuspecting Kenyans, to steal their hard-earned money.

"We take this opportunity to warn the perpetrators to desist from such criminal behavior, and those found culpable will be dealt with promptly in accordance with the law," NPS added.

The flagged job listing was shared by a person masquerading as the Kenya Police College.

Additionally, from the fake job listing, interested public members were expected to make submissions for 2022/2023 recruitment.

"Interested and suitably qualified members of the public can apply for any of the positions available at Kenya Police Service," read part of the fake job listing.

All interested candidates were directed to forward their documents to the commandant of the National Police College in Kiganjo, Nyeri County.

In November 2022, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) clarified claims of mass recruitment that went viral online

"Kindly note that KDF is not currently engaged in any recruitment exercise and be advised that KDF recruitment exercise is advertised through mainstream media," KDF stated.
