The Kenya Defence forces (KDF) has dismissed a mass recruitment advert making rounds on social media.

In a statement dated Friday, November 4, KDF flagged the poster claimed to have originated from the Ministry of Defence. The military indicated that the poster was for a recruitment exercise conducted in 2021.

"Attention is drawn to the general public of a fake Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment exercise advert circulating on social media platforms," KDF stated.

The advertisement called for graduate holders to fill different posts: General Service Officers (GSO), Cadets, Specialists officers, General Duty Recruits, Tradesmen/women, and Defence Forces Constables.

The advert stipulated the roles and responsibilities of each post, warning officials against bribing officials.

KDF clarified that adverts for mass recruitment are issued through mainstream media.

"Kindly note that Kenya Defense forces are not currently engaged in any recruitment exercise and be advised that KDF recruitment exercise is advertised through the mainstream media."

"We urge members of the public to disregard such fake alerts," the statement added.

A similar incident occurred when the public fell for a fake job advert from the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

The fake advert called for applicants to fill 300 Docker Grade HG4 vacancies.

Like KDF, most companies offering job opportunities direct applicants to apply for jobs on their sites or via email.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has constantly warned applicants against falling for scams.

"Report any incidents at nearby police stations," DCI advises.
