Widow of the late PakistanI journalist, Arshad Sharif, who was killed while in Kenya - has written to President William Ruto, requesting the Head of State to intervene.

In a letter that was published on Wednesday, December 21, Javeria Siddique stated that she was speaking on behalf of the late Arshad’s family as they were all in pain for the delayed justice.

“I am writing on behalf of the bereaved family of the late Arshad Sharif, a dedicated, committed and resilient journalist from Pakistan whose blood condemnably and mercilessly spilled on your soil,” read part of her letter.

Javeria reiterated Pakistani investigators' findings that the investigative journalist was killed in a “planned assassination” operation.

She asked the President to bring to book the perpetrators of the heinous act and demanded him to compel the investigating team to make public the reasons for the journalist's murder

“The underlying factors that led to the premeditated murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif need to be unearthed for meeting the end of justice we all behold,” she stated.

Siddique pleaded with Ruto to provide a speck of hope for the family by conducting an investigation and dealing with those involved in killing Sharif.

“We look forward to seeing you help us afford at least a modicum of opportunity to feel peace and solace by unearthing the truth and bringing the culprits to justice.

“I request that you mandate relevant authorities of yours to transparently investigate the true facts behind this brutal murder,” she added.

The grieving widow called on the Head of State to provide the truth revolving around circumstances that her husband was robbed his life.

“At this time of grief and anguish, a great responsibility is on you to provide us with the true information about what painful details Arshad Sharif went through during his last moment of life,” she put forward her request.

Sharif’s widow further made it clear that the demise of her husband was a great loss to the whole of Pakistan.

Before his death, the late Sharif fled Pakistan in August, citing threats to his life that he attributed to his publication of stories critical of the new administration.

He was also about to release an investigative documentary that makes allegations of corruption by ruling party leaders in Pakistan.
