The family of Ezekiel Gitangwa, the headteacher found dead in a nurse's home in Egesieri, Nyamira, revealed his last words before he was reportedly murdered.

On Tuesday, January 3, his brother, James Maganda, alleged that the deceased pleaded with his assailants before they took his life.

Maganda, who visited the crime scene, was reportedly told by neighbours that Gitangwa was lured into his death trap by his acquaintances.

"They told us that someone was beaten in this house and they heard him ask 'Why did you call me to come and kill me? I was heading to the church," the brother told Nation Africa

Maganda stated that he noticed the shool-head was acting weirdly when he failed to turn up for master of ceremonies duties at a wedding the following day.

Nyamira Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) Paul Makonge corroborated with the neighbours, adding that the deceased pleaded for forgiveness.

A man who always remained in constant communication with friends and family, Gitangwa's silence sent a loud distress call.

"I spoke to him in the morning but when I got to the church at 11 am, I did not see him.  We asked his wife where he was and when the wedding was over, I went to the police," the distraught brother stated.

With the help of officers, they broke into Agneta Agwata's house in search of him but in vain. However, his body was found in a chicken coop with his limbs missing.

The deceased's sister defended him from claims of involvement with the nurse and called for the speedy arrest of the suspect for the truth to come out.

Makonge accused Agwata and her boyfriend, Zablon Keng'ara as the prime suspects in the case.

He further dismissed claims that the suspects had been apprehended in Nakuru, as earlier reported.
