Eldas Member of Parliament Adan Wehliye Keynan, on Saturday, January 7, dismissed reports that he had resigned.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Keynan insisted that he was still serving as an MP.

He termed as a fake a viral letter making rounds on various social media platforms alleging that he had tendered his resignation and presented it to the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Masika Wetangula.

"You know that is fake. I plan to report the matter so that the person who created and generated the letter will be apprehended," Keynan told Kenyans.co.ke.

The lawmaker who was elected on a Jubilee Party ticket further dispelled reports that he was considering resigning due to continued hostilities among different clans in the region.

Keynan further denied reports alleging that his health had deteriorated, compelling him to tender his resignation.

The Azimio legislator blamed the rumours on his political distractors and vowed to issue a comprehensive statement on the matter.

"I urge Kenyans to avoid the said letter because it is fake and misleading. I am still committed to my duty to serve Eldas constituents," he stated.

Misleading reports shared widely on various social media platforms indicated that the MP had decided to resign over continued hostilities in Eldas.

"This decision has been necessitated by continued hostilities among different clans in my constituency, request from the elders and my deteriorating health," the misleading letter indicated in part.

"These factors put together have made discharging of my duties tedious and involving which requires more energy, agility and movement," it added.

The fake reports also alleged that Keynan had relinquished his role as Secretary of the Jubilee Parliamentary Group.

"Indeed, it has been a privilege to work with your office - the Office of the Jubilee Party (under Azimio Coalition), and all my fellow Members of Parliament since I was elected," the refuted letter further indicated.
