Narok Senator Ledama Olekina got Kenyans talking on Sunday, January 8 when he unveiled his new pair of shoes.
According to the senator who has never shied away from flaunting his possession, the pair of shoes is not for hustlers.
The premier brand Oxford pair of shoes can only be afforded by those with the means considering its price tag.
The lawmaker took to Twitter to post an image of the tobacco bis colored shoe, along with a well-swanked caption.
"This is not a hustler shoe so if you see me wearing it or if you see anyone wearing it just know a big boy is passing by," the senator Twitted urging Kenyans to "get out of the way."
His statement sparked mixed reactions from Kenyans on social media who voiced their thoughts on the Senator's apparent jab at President William Ruto's administration which has been known for driving the "hustler" narrative.
One Kamentos686 wrote, "It is okay, but also remember a hustler who tirelessly hustles daily will one day wear it," in reply to the Senator who later appreciated the attitude in the reply.
Boaz Sitati on his part took issue with the Senator's post and went as far as comparing him to Senegalese football star Sadio Mane to illustrate the difference between the two.
"Given a thousand lifetimes, you wouldn't come anywhere near what Senegalese professional footballer Sadio Mane has earned. However, he uses his money to uplift the lives of the people where he came from not bragging like a spoilt brat on the internet," Sitati shared.
A quick internet search by Kenyans.co.ke revealed that the shoe shared by the senator was an Alessandro Galet Scritto Leather Oxford.
This shoe brand manufactured by a French Label called Berluti goes for a whopping Ksh29,6880 ($2,400) as indicated on its website.
Berluti is a luxury footwear brand for men's shoes and the high-patina Alessandro Oxfords which are considered icons of the House are currently sold out.
The Deputy Minority Whip in the Senate has a penchant for stirring public controversy through his social media engagements.
Earlier in November 2022, Olekina sparked online discussions after appearing on Citizen TV’s JKL show dressed in a traditional Maasai ensemble, complete with leather sandals.
He thereafter took to social media to confirm that he, indeed, does take care of his legs, offering his followers a glimpse of his hemp body cream.
