Examiner Caught on CCTV Stealing Clothes at Alliance Girls Arrested

An examiner captured stealing clothes belonging to her colleagues on CCTV footage that went viral on Thursday, January 12, has been arrested.

The female examiner was captured stealing clothes that included face towels, inner wears and blouses. The footage was dated Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a representative from the Alliance Girls High School Administration confirmed that the teacher was handed over to the authorities after a review of the clip.

"Those in charge of the examination centre came for the CCTV video and reviewed it after which they went for the examiner," the representative confirmed.

The female teacher stole wet clothes that had been hung on a clothesline. It was later reported that the examiner is a Kiswahili teacher from one of the top schools in the country. 

"The case was handled as a criminal matter and given the right attention by the security officials at the examinations centre," the administration added

Security officers at Alliance Girls High School also confirmed that the examiner was asked to formally write a statement on the allegations that were leveled against her. 

The victims were also called in to identify clothes that were picked from the clotheline behind the girls' dormitory. 

The school's security officials also reported the matter to Kiambu Police Station who took up the investigations. 

However, it is not clear if the female teacher will be charged in court or be cautioned and forgiven. 

The incident occured amonth after a police officer was caught on camera stealing at a school in Bomet County during Kenya Certificate of Secondary School (KCSE) examinations on Monday, December 5, 2022.

The officer, who was part of a team that went to invigilate at Kimulot High School examination center, was caught ransacking bags belonging to teachers. 

CCTV video clips have been very instrumental in solving criminal cases that were hardly witnessed by many people.
