Chaos erupted at the County Assembly of Kericho during a special sitting on Friday, January 13.

A video seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed the members of the county assembly roughing up each another after earlier talks collapsed.

The MCAs were having a special sitting to deliberate on house leadership which had changed for the third time in four months.

The last leadership changes saw Kamsian Ward MCA Philip Rono replace Kapsoit ward MCA Paul Chirchir as the majority leader.

The sitting also came two days after Patrick Mutai, the County Speaker, received an endorsement of the changes from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Secretary General Veronica Maina.

Earlier in the day, the speaker had also ordered the Sergeant at Arms to remove journalists who had come to cover the session.

"Who invited you here? Get those media people out of here. Allow them to monitor the proceedings online," Mutai directed the security officers.

The journalists drawn from different media houses were kicked out of the County Assembly premises ahead of the special sitting intended to discuss matters of the supplementary budget tabled in the assembly.

According to Nation, Chilchilla Ward MCA Hezron led other four MCAs in helping the security officers remove the journalists from the premises

"I am the one in command here and I have ordered that the media will stay out and that is final," Mutai asserted.

On Tuesday, January 3, two governors from Kericho and Bomet Counties Hillary Bachok (Bomet) and Erick Mutai (Kericho) disagreed over the location where a Ksh6 billion National Referral Hospital was to be constructed.

The news came after the national government allocated Ksh28 billion for a new referral hospital to be hosted by Uasin Gishu county.
