"The Commission is in charge of human resource management of the National Police Service, which comprises the Kenya Police, the Administration Police, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)," the commission states on its website.

Some of the commission's mandates include recruiting and appointment persons to hold offices within the National Police Service as well as perform any other functions as prescribed by the national legislation.
