Kenya Airways has cautioned Kenyans to be wary of scammers purporting to offer employment opportunities with a monthly salary of up to Ksh60,000.

In a statement on Monday, January 16, KQ noted that notices about vacancies are posted on its official LinkedIn page which has 271,111 followers.

In the post, the scammers purported to recruit clerks, toll attendants, and cleaners, in conjunction with the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).

"Beware of fake job advertisements associated with Kenya Airways. All KQ vacancies are posted on our LinkedIn channel. Do not be conned," the statement read in part.

The post claimed that the Ksh60,000 net salary was negotiable after three months of probation. According to the notice, candidates would send their curriculum vitae by quoting their job titles in the email subject lines.

"Candidates should expect a net salary of Ksh45,000- Ksh60,000 which is negotiable after three months of probation. Send your CV's before January 22, 2023," read part of the fake notice.

The qualifications for the positions included a D+ level graduate, ability to work independently in a fast-paced changing environment, and a team player with exceptional communication skills.

Others included a person who is extremely motivated, disciplined, pays attention to detail and the ability to cope with stressful situations.

Reports of job scams have risen in the recent past owing to the rising rate of unemployed youth in the country.

How to Spot Fake Adverts

A spot check by Kenyans.co.ke on the advert revealed that the email used infokenyaairways(at)gmail(dot)com consists of a personal domain.

The official email for Kenya Airways is customer(dot)relations(at)kenya(hyphen)airways(dot)com.

Other red flags to look out for include spelling or grammatical errors within an advert, a company lacking an online presence and job adverts that request payment before interviews.
