The bizarre state in which the body of a 45-year-old Computer Studies teacher from Nyeri was found elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans and shocked many.

He was found nailed in a makeshift coffin resembling a boat inside his house after he had gone missing for three weeks.

According to an autopsy conducted at the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital Mortuary on Wednesday, January 18, the teacher died of suffocation.

The postmortem further detailed that the man did not ingest any poison and neither did his body have any injuries.

These findings cleared doubts of the teacher poison himself since an unknown chemical was found inside the coffin.

Additionally, the Tetu Sub-County Police Commander Philip Mwania stated the man nailed himself inside the coffin to block any air.

A flashlight and a hammer were found in the coffin indicating that he used the torch as light to nail himself shut.

"We are still investigating the red liquid found inside the coffin. We initially suspected it could be the poison that killed the teacher," Mwania stated.

Police recovered unusual items near the coffin including a black flag, scrolls written in seemingly the ancient Egyptian language, a cow horn, and flowers.

For further investigations, the police collected the scrolls and his laptop to understand the cryptic message items on the coffin communicated.

According to his family members, the teacher was known for disappearing for some time as well as switching off his phone. He also reportedly rarely received any visitors.

However, after vanishing and a missing person report filed on December 22, 2022, his body was found decomposing inside the coffin in his house.
