Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Thursday, January 19, downplayed claims by the Azimio Coalition that the August 2022 General Election was rigged in favour of President William Ruto.

Speaking with the local media on Thursday, January 19, the Prime CS described the allegations as "hot air" and an attempt to seek relevance.

According to him, the results of the election were availed for the public to scrutinise on the public portal provided by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

In addition, he affirmed that the disputes in the election process were resolved through the petition lodged by members of the  Azimio Coalition.

He also questioned the failure of the coalition to use the alleged evidence in their submissions at the Supreme Court in August 2022.

"The results were announced in accordance with the law, the results were in the portal for all members of the public to scrutinise and tally.

"The international community recognised how the election was open and fair. The people who were aggrieved had a chance to go to the Supreme Court which unanimously validated the results," he stated.

Earlier on Thursday, former digital strategist Dennis Itumbi of the Kenya Kwanza campaign team also dismissed the allegations, claiming that the alleged whistleblower was part of Azimio’s campaign team.

He claimed that the whistleblower identified by Kioni offered campaign advice to the Azimio Coalition.

Vanguard Africa in regulatory documents filed in the USA and signed by Jeffrey Smith, confirm they offered Raila Campaign advise,” Itumbi stated.

On their part, Azimio leaders led by Wiper Party Leader promised to give more information on the revelations from the IEBC insider after deliberations.

The electoral commission was yet to comment on the matter by the time of this publication.
