Police officers at the Mbale Police Staton in Vihiga were shocked after listening to the thrilling confession of a hired hitman who allegedly confessed to stabbing a woman to death.

According to the suspect, he attacked the victim with a knife on Sunday, January 15, after being promised Ksh20,000 for the job.

However, after his mission was accomplished, the woman who hired him was reluctant to offset the debt, forcing him to surrender.

He casually walked into the police station to report the case and record a statement.

Oblivious of the offence he had committed, the suspect demanded the police officers intervene so he could get his payment.

The County Commander Benjamin Ong'ombe announced that investigations into the murder were launched to apprehend all those involved.

"He came to report the woman who hired him but failed to pay him and so she must be ordered to pay the Ksh20,000 fee," the commander stated.

Ong'ombe added that as the suspect led them to the crime scene, they were sceptical of his words, only to find the woman's lifeless body on the floor.

"He led us to an abandoned house where we found the body of the victim lying in a pool of blood with a knife still stuck in her neck," Ong'ombe stated.

The deceased's body was taken to the Vihiga County Referral Hospital Mortuary.

Meanwhile, police arrested the hitman alongside another suspect in the murder as investigations continued.

Speculations from the family of the victim indicate that the murder was a result of unpaid debt.

Family members also noted that the woman who hired the hitman was a friend.
