As the burial preparation of former Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha continued, different prominent personalities recounted the last moments they shared together.

During a visit to the late professor's home, on Tuesday, January 31, former Interior Permanent Secretary, Karanja Kibicho, disclosed that Magoha nearly quit.

This was during the tenure of University of Nairobi (UON), Vice-Chancellor Stephen Kiama when the deceased was overwhelmed by the crisis at the institution.

Kibicho revealed that the late CS, who passed away receiving emergency treatment at the Nairobi Hospital, was afraid that he would be a laughing stock over a gazette notice he had then issued.

We all have little experiences with the professor, but I want to confess one that you may not have come across.

"There was a small problem at the University of Nairobi, and the council was to take a temporary leave. That weekend Magoha had issued a gazette notice, and the decision seemed to have changed. He felt he had been put under the bus,” he narrated.

The ex-PS stated that Magoha called him to his office with a resignation letter, ready to leave his job.

“So one Sunday morning he called me and said he wanted to resign because he felt he was no longer wanted. How could he be put under the bus and the whole country will laugh at him? He was serious with a letter of resignation,” he added.

Before coming up with a solution, Kibicho called then Kiama to the office, where they held a little conversation and settled the matter.

“I told him to calm down and informed him that he had joined a political arena and the country was bigger than him. I told him to tear the letter and face the situation,” he explained.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta also consoled the late CS's family. While delivering his speech, he disregarded President William Ruto's government's attempts to go after his family, accused of tax evasion.

"Don't worry about these people who are making noise, people who have nothing else to do will always make noise. That's life. We'll mind our business.

"(To Magoha's wife) With us, you are a family, and we will continue to stand with you and whatever you require of us. Count on us. We shall be there for you and your family, as Magoha was there with us," he added
