Kenyan Nurse Ranked Best Worldwide Shares Letter From Barrack Obama

Kenyan nurse Qabale Duba on Tuesday, January 31, shared an email response former US President Barrack Obama wrote to appreciate her efforts.

According to Duba, who was named the world's best nurse by Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award in 2022, Obama replied to her letter through the White House website.

In the letter dated January 9, 2017, Obama lauded Duba for empowering different communities in Kenya.

Obama maintained that his administration was keen on advancing gender equality and also vowed to eliminate barriers perpetrating seclusion in different regimes.

"Thank you for the powerful message you sent me last summer. It's clear you have been through a great deal and I admire the strength and determination you've shown in working toward your dreams," the letter read in part.

"My Administration has been committed to advancing gender equality both here in America and around the world, and it is thanks to young leaders like you that we continue to make progress," the former leader of the free world added.

Additionally, Obama encouraged Duba maintaining that he was keen to learn of her achievements.

"This is the future that you're helping us build. A future where girls around the world are free to pursue their education and live out their dreams. It's a future that your generation believes in, and one that you and your generation will lead us to.

"Like I said at the Town Hall a few months ago - you're young, you're talented, and you're already showing you can make a difference. I can't wait to see what else you accomplish," the former US President added.

The 32-year-old established the Qabale Foundation to tackle harmful cultural practices like FGM and early marriages, and champion women's empowerment.

To recognise her achievements, Duba won the Global Citizen’s Choice Award of Ksh6.2 million (USD50,000) in New York in 2019.

In 2022, Duba won Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award valued at Ksh31 million(USD250,000).

Duba indicated that she intends to use the funds to build a local school in Marsabit.
