Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detailed an exhilarating high-speed chase involving the OCS Huruma Police Station and a wanted thug in Nairobi.

In a statement on Wednesday, February 1, DCI noted that the suspect was cornered by the team led by the OCS before he fled.

Reportedly, the knife-wielding thugs had accosted a couple heading home near a church, where they snatched their phones and took off in the bike.

Consequently, the OCS and his team followed the two-man gang on a motorcycle all through the Kariobangi-Huruma flyover.

Area residents were astonished as the motorcycles traversed through the estate, leaving a gust of wind behind.

However, as the thugs' motorcycle began to lose control on the road, the OCS, through his driver, increased his speed to catch up with them.

"As fate would have it, the miscreants’ bike hit a pavement and the duo landed on the tarmac with a heavy thud like a ‘dusura’ of potatoes from the roof-rack of a Tulaga bus on arrival at Khoja bus terminus, from the potato rich Nyandarua highlands," DCI detailed.

Unfortunately, one of the thugs managed to escape by jumping into a stormwater culvert, while the other was arrested and escorted to the police station.

Detectives discovered that the man had been arrested in 2011 for preparation to commit a felony, and released on cash bail.

He was also arrested in 2012 for the same offence and being in possession of narcotics.

Additionally, investigations are ongoing to determine how the suspect escaped detention to terrorise unsuspecting members of the public.

"The suspect is being processed for arraignment once again as we appreciate Huruma Police Station’s anti-mugging crew for a job well done and the OCS for leading the onslaught," DCI concluded.
